Methyl thioglycolate is a clear oil liquid, soluble in water, smell of allicin. It is an important intermediate in the synthesis of medicine, pesticide, food flavor and tobacco flavor. It can be used as organotin heat stabilizer and high molecular weight regulator of polymer. Polymercaptoacetate methyl ester can also be used as low temperature curing agent for epoxy Chemicalbook resin, optical lenses and manufacturing adhesives. The current synthesis methods of methyl thioglycolate mainly use thioglycolic acid and methanol as raw materials and sulfuric acid as catalyst for batch synthesis. This process has many problems, such as low yield, long reaction time and serious corrosion of equipment.
