β-bromo-phenylethane is an important intermediate in the synthesis of high performance bromo-flame retardants polybromo-styrene and is often used in the preparation of intermediates in organic synthesis. Such as β-bromo-phenylethane can be used to prepare the preparation of preast intermediate 4-(4-phenylbutoxy) benzoic acid. As an anti-asthma drug, prelast was first developed by the Japanese company Ono and launched in Japan in 1995. In 1999, it was found to treat allergic rhinitis. Premedast is leukotriene C4/D4 receptor antagonist (lTRAs), with very low toxicity. It can selectively inhibit leukotriene multi-skin activity in airway smooth muscle, and has almost no effect on arachidonic acid metabolic enzymes. At the same time, it has no antagonistic effect on acetylcholine, 5-hydroxytryptamine, and significantly inhibits lTC4, lTD4, and lTE4.
