Ivermectin is a new type of highly efficient semi-synthetic antibiotic insecticide, acaricide, nematode insecticide, belongs to insect nerve agent, biological penetrant. The mechanism of action is to interfere with the neurophysiological activities of pests, stimulate the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid, act on nerve and muscle joints, increase the release of chloride ions, inhibit the transmission of information of nerve joints, resulting in paralysis and death of pests and mites poisoning. Its product is colorless or light brown yellow liquid. Ivermectin is a new class of broad-spectrum, high-efficiency, low-toxicity antibiotic antiparasitic drugs, which has good repellent effect on both internal and external parasites, especially nematodes and arthropods. But not against tapeworms, flukes and protozoa. The repellent effect of macrolides on nematodes and arthropods is to increase the release of the inhibitory transmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), open the Cl ion channel controlled by glutamate, enhance the permeability of nerve membrane to Cl, thus blocking the transmission of nerve signals, and eventually paralyze the nerve, so that muscle cells lose the ability to contract.
